Gargano coast from Baia di Mattinata to Manfredonia

Mattinata to Manfredonia

Immediately after the Bay of Mattinata the Gargano coast starts to flatten until it reaches and join the Tavogliere of Puglia, a flat and quite large piece of land of Puglia.

Up to just before Manfredonia the coast is mostly indented with small bays and sandy beaches, but soon after Manfredonia starts a long sandy beach with various organized lidos.

 

Baia di Mattinata

Inside Mattinata Bay there is a long beach well served with a variety of services including bars, restaurants and parking. On Monte Saraceno, just south of the beach, there are various necropolis excavated in the rock dating back to the bronze age.

Baia di Punta Rossa

This is a small beach accessible through a small path that goes down from a high rock. Once you reach the place you will have to leave the car on the main road to reach the beach. It is an unspoiled area with services.

Papone

Papone is a small sandy beach not easily accessible. There are no directions to the site and probably to get there is necessary to go through some private properties or from the sea.

Chianca Masitto

At Chianca Masitto there are some inlets with various small and large beaches. Some, especially the larger ones, offer services for renting umbrellas and sun chairs. The other beaches are free to use and have no services. All beaches are easily accessible.

In this small bay there is a large beach and other smaller ones located on the north side. The largest offers rental services of umbrellas and sun chairs. Those on north are free to access and use.

Baia del Monaco is a nice beach about 2 km from Manfredonia. It is well served by lidos with all kinds of facilities for bathing. There are, nevertheless, vast areas of free beach.
