Nature reserve of Isola di Varano

The park


The Nature reserve of Isola di Varano is located within the Gargano national park, between the towns of Cagnano Varano and Ischitella.

The Isola di Varano is a sandy strip of about 10 km that separates the Lake Varano from Adriatic Sea, between Foce Varano and Cagnano Varano.

This sandy stretch of land is characterised by sandy dunes covered with Mediterranean vegetation.

Wild animals living in the area include foxes, hedgehogs, cuckoos, hares and many species of migratory birds.

The Nature reserve of Isola di Varano is part of the Gargano national park.
