Nature reserve Salina dei Monaci and Dune di Torre di Colimena

The park

The Nature reserve Salina dei Monaci and Dune di Torre di Colimena is located in the province of Taranto, along the coast of the town of Manduria.

The main feature of this reserve is the presence of a lake separated from the sea by a strip of land covered with sandy dunes and Mediterranean vegetation. The water of this salt lake has created ideal conditions for many species of migratory birds. During the migration period is, in fact, possible to see the pink and white flamingos, mallards, cranes, swans and wild geese. There are, also, toads, small reptiles and amphibians, many birds of prey, such as owls.

This reserve is now part of the Regional nature reserve Litorale Tarantino Orientale.
