Gioia del Colle
The territory of Gioia del Colle was already inhabited in the Prehistoric age but it started to develop from the VI century BC.
Part of the old town is of medieval origin and dominated by the castle founded in the XII century by Richard Seneschal and extended by Frederick II in 1230. The ground floor of the castle houses today the Archaeology Museum.
