The Arancio Dolce del Golfo di Taranto (sweet orange of the Golfo di Taranto), also known as 'Arancia Navelina', is a large and slightly elongated fruit. The rind is of medium thickness and tends to have a reddish colour, inside is orange with an excellent flavour, seedless and is particularly juicy and refreshing.
The areas involved in the production of this orange include the territories of Castellaneta, Ginosa, Massafra, Palagianello, Palagiano, Statte and Taranto.
The orange of the Golfo di Taranto can be harvested from the end of October until March.
Thanks to the high percentage of juice (35%) this orange can be eaten as a fruit itself and it is great to use for juices and salads.
