Place of Origin
The Oliva Bella of Dunia is a Protected Designation of Origin product (DOP) obtained from varieties of olives Bella di Cerignola. Its origin and production in the Daunia area dates back to 1400. Today it is produced inside the territories of Cerignola, Orta Nova, Stornelle and Trinitapoli and Stornara.
It is a fruit of green or black colour, large, fleshy and elongated. Inside is delicious and tasty.
The Olive Bella della Daunia is grown according to the typical local traditional systems.
The olives are collected toward the middle of October with the use of nets to avoid the contact of the olives with the ground. Immediately after harvest they are treated to reduce the bitter taste and, then, rinsed and stored in containers with the addition of salt.
It is a big and juicy olive and, thus, excellent on its own with a good glass of wine. It can be eaten with cheese or appetizers.
It can also be enjoyed with pasta dishes with tomato sauce or meat dishes and fish.
