Padre Peppe elisir di noce
Place of Origin
The Padre Peppe elisir di noce is a typical liqueur of Puglia made using green walnuts and natural flavours.
It is produced according to an ancient recipe of the year 1832 that has been passed down from generation to generation. It has a dark colour, an aroma of fresh green walnuts and high gradation.
For its preparation chop 14 green walnuts, place them in an airtight glass container and cover them with one litre of alcohol. Add some cinnamon and a few cloves. Close and leave it for 6 months.
Prepare the syrup by mixing 400 grams of sugar with 600 ml of water, heat and when ready let it cool down.
Mix it with the alcohol and allow to rest for 3-4 weeks.
Filter and store in glass bottles.
The elixir can be consumed as a digestif or can be added to coffee, ice creams and desserts.
It can be drunk at room temperature or with ice, but is also good hot.
