The Carrot of Zapponeta is a sugary, crunchy, tender and very digestible vegetable. It is round shaped and can reach 60 cm in length.
It is a Traditional Agricultural Food Product (PAT) of Puglia, produced in the territory of Zapponeta, in province of Foggia.
The Carrot Zapponeta is sown in late August and early September. They are then picked up one at a time, between January and March, placed in boxes and stored in warehouses or cold rooms to protect them from moisture.
They can be eaten boiled, stewed, fried or raw.
